This week’s theme is all about alcoholic beverages, be it wine, beer or spirits… or any alcohol infused food, at that.¬† I still prefer wine among the three general classes.
…specifically, WHITE ZINFANDEL. between a red and a white,¬† i fancy the otherwise in between rosey color of a Zin and the fact that it is not as dry and tart but sweet enough for my taste bud. i may even consider cross country moving just to be near this beloved wine!
an off-dry to sweet, pink-colored rosé wine. White Zinfandel is made from the Zinfandel wine grape, which would otherwise produce a bold and spicy red wine. As such, it is not a grape variety but a method of processing Zinfandel grapes.[source:WIKI]
…now, if we talk about food with a sprinkling or more of alcohol…what tops my list is one that is literally a pick-me-upper! a slice of TIRAMISU. i’ve made a number of tiramisu variations in the past, with or without the alcoholic content. but this one is store bought. the cheapest one there is i think, selling for less than $3 for one 8×8 square. good enough for a sudden rum-flavored rich and creamy dessert or snack craving.

Ode to the Puto (Steamed Muffin/Rice Cake)
Puto, you rise from flour,
water and fire.
Dense or light, flattened or round,

They say that accidental cooking sometimes turns ot to be the best cuisines in history. I deliberately make accidents and experiments at home and one of them would be this baked puto. Since I have no access to a steamer, which is used , I baked the puto ala muffin instead.
To know if the puto is cooked, it must be fluffy and bounces back when touched. This treat has the soft consistency of our favorite puto on the inside but a crunchy outside. A perfect snack on a lazy afternoon…

Swirls n Twirls are in my kitchen and my favorite foods as well…cakes, pastries, ice cream sundaes, lollipop…spice rack, paper towel holder, shelf brackets, chandelier…they are so pretty, and I just love them!

since we sent most of these to school for the bake sale, we didn’t really have enough of it to satisfy our craving for brownies. now i am truly desperate for more. desperate! so i bought another Betty Crocker Cookie and Brownie Bar box today. i can’t wait!
…i know, i know. after all these binges and summer is fast approaching, i should be considering some natural appetite suppressant really soon, huh?

These chocolaty, chewy, crunchy yet delightfully soft and moist all at the same time cookie brownie bars are such wonderful treats even for the non-chocoholics like me. I am highly recommending this extraordinary dessert or snack that is so easy to make, that anyone, even the kids can actually whip up. It‚Äôs incredibly simple yet they look so spectacular with the inevitable blending of its honey cookie dough and chocolate brownie colors . They are so rich and decadent but it doesn’t require any special skills and takes only minutes to make. I tell ya, it‚Äôs that awesome that you won‚Äôt have any left over.
It is very close to Weng’s Blondies, but this one is out of the box! Hah! Hee!Haw! Yuff, you read it right…another semi-home-made decadence. I wasn’t kidding when I said it’s that easy. Go grab a box of Betty Crocker’s Cookie Brownie Bars and you’re all set! It was something I’ve never seen in the supermarket before, naturally curiosity got the better of me and I bought right away.Yesterday, as we were on our way home from school, my daughter told me she has to bring something for a bake sale today and I thought this was the perfect solution. Another opportunity too to do some kitchen adventures with S. You don’t even need any special gadget such as a mixer… 1 egg, a couple of tablespoons water, 1 stick of butter and that’s it. I only added more chocolate chips in the mixture as always whenever I make out of the box brownies. I also omitted the nuts part [chopped walnuts or hazelnuts, which I always add too] since it’s not allowed in school…and some more for the MELTed chocolate /chocolate ganache on top. Two birds with one stone! One for the bake sale and one for LaPiS! Voila!
The chocolate chips that goes inside the mixture has also melted slightly and this adds to the light and chewy texture of the bars. The exciting thing about this is that it takes no time to whip up and the best thing about it? It is that it sinfully melts in your mouth literally, deliciously sinful…you won’t believe it’s one cheat eats. Plus it’s easy on the pocket too! I’d say less than 5 bucks and you’re good to go! I was kind of late in checking out this week’s theme for Thematic Photographic which is DRINK. It would’ve been so timely since today I realized, I ran out of coffee and so I headed to McD’s as soon as I dropped off the kids to school…to try their McCafe. ..and yes, I didn’t have the courage to wait and drink it until I get home. so, i wasn’t able to take a shot of my caffeine dose.
Now, this is the Philippines version of the lemonade here or Limoncello..actually its taste is a cross between lemons and limes. This is our Calamansi and I miss it so dearly. All we have access to here are the bottled ones which costs an arm and a leg! Even my kids learned to love this drink…as for us, we also love it as a dipping sauce mixed with fish sauce or say sauce. ooohhh! i am literally drooling, just thinking about it:]

If I stay in tune in the tradition of this blog, this cookie bag that I baked with the kids months ago, will ultimately be my entry for this week’s theme.

This left me with no choice but to share my other ‘ultimate’ fave accessory [okay okay, one of them! hee!] that comes packed with just the perfect features in terms of size, shape, color, material and most especially function.¬† I also like the fat that the hardwares are in silver, this is also what I prefer in discount door hardware pieces, by the way.

This tote just comes in handy anytime, anywhere. Its wine red shade is not particularly neutral, but this is how I add punch to any outfit [if red or yellow isn't my thing at the time, hee!] even if it’s as ordinary as a jeans, white shirt and sneakers day for me.
