mojos-1

Shakey’s MOJOS, unhealthy and cholesterol filled as it is…is something we have been craving for for the longest time and it has been one on my goals list, at least gastronomically speaking. i know right? what else is new here anyway, hehe!

Now, I am proud to disclose…MISSION accomplished! paired with fried chicken, double whammy!!!! double double cholesterol action, i tell ya! now i really need to check out on weight loss pill reviews becuase i know i have gained a lot just by this one bingeing!

mojos-2

…and boy am i glad, it was a successful one too!:) pramis! just like the real thing! ika nga!:) except that it got too thinly sliced that it turned out to be more on the crunchy side than the soggy, soft one they serve at Shakey’s. some might like it this way better but on my next attempt it is my intention to adjust the mandolin to make them at least 1-1 1/2cm thick.¬† Recipe will be posted in a few.

avocado-carrot-facial

…that while i was sleeping [sort of] nursing a flu, ‘wine’ flu [that is according to my neighbor Stel]…my daughter S was concocting this facial mask.

avocado

at alam nyo rin ba na ito ay gawa sa kalahating avocado…the other half, kinain ko hehe!

carrots

at isang carrot.
a little bit of EVOO, honey and cream… and voila! instant @ home pampering by-from-with my dear sweet dalaginding…

An entry to LP-alam-mo-ba

Ingredients for a great facial are no further away than your own refrigerator. Avocado and carrots may sound like something healthy to eat, but then when blended together, they make a wonderful facial for dry or mature skin. The vitamin E in the avocado, combined with the antioxidants and beta-carotene in the carrot, will improve your skin’s texture and tone and fade age spots.

…you can click on the link for the complete instructions!:) try it! your skin will definitely feel soft, smooth and supple after:) pramis!:)

M-birthday-1

Happy nth! birthday again to my dear M. we did not do much on a supposedly very special milestone in one’s lifetime. o alam nyo na ang edad nya? life begins nga! hee!
bakit? overtime! ang lolo ninyo! sabado, which was his exact birthday, at maging noong linggo. pero ayos lang. sa panahon ngayon, wala tayong karapatang magreklamo, ika nga.

A Cantonese-Polynesian Restaurant in the city.

M-birthday-2

Great food…love the peking duck combo platter! it has everything under it too! prawns, beef, mushrooms, carrots, water chestnuts, french beans. even the kids loved their chicken teriyaki, cheese roll and pork ribs platter! friendly and prompt service, fairly priced and according to my kids…it’s like a hotel inside. must be the glimmering mini chandeliers and the smell. the smell of clean, if i may say so. we are definitely coming back.

Btw, the day ended up with a surprise home-made coffee and walnut birthday cake! Sorry, the cake photos aren’t as good due to poor lighting and let’s-get-this-over-and-done-with-moment photo shoot. sheesh!

pizza-pasta-dinner
…i have mentioned in this blog that weekends are my days off in the kitchen. this past mother’s day weekend is no exception…more so if i must say, right?

kaya naman heto ang isa sa mga niluto ni M to cap the whole brouhaha. hee! nang matapos ang pagpapasarap ng isang ina. isang masarap na pizza, pasta and those Buitoni Wild Mushroom Agnolotti that i got to taste-test care of Foodbuzz for free! it was totally awesome! Raviolis are another must have in our kitchen, even the kids love ‘em! anyway, everything [except for the ravioli] was good and homemade by M…which meant a lot more than anything else, korek?

end-of-the-tunnel
…this on the other hand, ay larawan ng isa sa mga tunnels na dinaanan namin pauwi ng Massachusetts nang matapos ang aming kamakailang bakasyon sa Virginia.

An entry to LP-nang-matapos Heto pa ang isa kong lahok.

cheesecake-factory-1

…something we look forward to whenever we go on a fine[r] dining spree during a special occasion [or not] such as this day in a mini celebration for C’s first communion…the bread and butter at the start of the meal. more specifically, this pumpernickel bread at the Cheesecake Factory. we are bread lovers, what can i say? kicking off the rest of the whole luncheon.

cheesecake-factory-3
HERB CRUSTED FILET OF SALMON
Fresh Salmon with a Delicious Lemon Sauce, Asparagus
and Mashed Potatoes

…and yes, after these…there was no more room for dessert. no cheesecake this time, which was fine.

George-Washington-bridge-1

i have babbled yesterday on the beauty of Virginia and our recent spring break get-away at a friend’s place. not this time. there is one thing that i did not really appreciate. it’s the traffic! i am not really sure if it is a normal scenario, but during our whole week stay…there is a slowdown on the roads most of the time. i haven’t been stuck on the road for that long here on our side. but as i’ve mentioned in my previous post, the bad side ends there.

George-Washington-bridge-2

GWB-3

The bridge is also equipped with a path on both sides for pedestrians.

GWB-4
An entry to LP-tulay na may temang…TULAY. at ito pa po ang isang BRIDGE na nais kong i-share mula Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania at iba pa sa mahigit kumulang 10 state na aming tinahak pauwi ng Boston.

garden-asparagus

Back in New York, I can only go as far as an Asparagus on a pitcher or vase on a table or counter, sometimes it’s the basil or other fresh herbs i mostly use in cooking or a foliage of them all. primary reason…wala akong hardin sa building apartment na tinitirhan namin noon. secondly, i was never huge on colorful blooms and bouquets…in fact kung ako ay papipiliin ng bulaklak berdeng bulaklak pa rin ang gusto ko or simpleng puting tulip is as far as i can go. even in decorating the house, i would still opt for twigs, pussy willows and cat tails [la la la la, hee!] rather than roses and stuffs…

garden-parsley

The most successful one i’ve ever had was this parsley i bought ready on a pot at matagumpay ko namang nabuhay ng buong taon. But now I am ready to enjoy this bigger back/side yard/garden/deck that we have.

garden-BBQ-grille

He he!
This is one thing that I need to buy soon myself. Add to that a set of patio chairs and table both for entertaining and lazing around during these nicer weather condition outdoors.

and here’s another take on this theme

Photobucket

First and utmost…Happy 1st Anniversary again to LITRATONG PINOY!!! and here’s to LP’s Madame Butterfly…hehehe! Madame Admin pala, for a job well done [at nagpadami ng uban nya mwahaha!] Isa na po ako dun hehe! sowi po!

I am mega uber positive that most of you found this theme a challenge. Easy as it may seem, if we base it on the theme title…Paboritong larawan [favorite photo]. Sort of a freestyle in effect, right? But nah… it wasn’t the case for me. And we all know the reason why most of us found this a tad difficult…we.have.a.gazillion.of.fave.photos!

So I decided to post a very recent and fabulous discovery…

The Marina Bay…located just around the area of Quincy, Massachusetts. I have been in the city for more than a year now but it was only during the past weekend that we saw this marvelous place.

Maaraw man noong araw na iyon, pero malamig pa rin kaya hindi kami nakatagal sa labas…and we decided to come back again and eat in each and every restaurant by the boardwalk soon.

Photobucket
These 2 photos aren’t exactly a favorite since I have yet to learn the correct settings in shooting seascapes, landscapes and all other naturescapes on a sunny day such as this…in fact, sinadya kong ipakita ang 2 larawan na ito sa inyo na halos magkamukha. pansin nyo? haha!
the reason behind…
And I can’t wait to come back…kasi, kasi! I have a new lens! yay!
…and wouldn’t it be nice to visit these wonderful vacation spots and be on the road for days with an rv? this is just one of my son’s biggest dreams, ever! it’s free anyway, dreaming that is:]

shoe-bling-1

You gotta love the bling! This isn’t mine, though. My sister gave this to my daughter. S wasn’t using it and it was just sitting in her jewelry box.
Sayang eh!

Neither is this next photo mine…
yes kay S pa rin ito. Binili nya sa eskwelahan for a dollar. Cute no?
I can actually borrow it and use it one of these days.

shoe-bling-2

Not so sure if this will pass as a shoe entry, because obviously these are slippers… slipper necklace, that is.
Pwede na rin siguro:)

An entry to LP-Shoes…with a SAPATOS theme! …and here’s another entry! i wish it were Dansko shoes though:]…
