he set of photos where this shot is a part of, is the root of all evil…so to speak, of my recent heartache. the pain of losing a whole lot of good photos in the perfect setting, perfect subject is simply heart stabbing, mind wrenching pain!!! i tell ya! needless to say, i was oh so mad and sad the past days because of this and up until today i just can’t get over it. that said, i have decided to head back to Plimoth Plantation which is a trip to…
“the 17th century!where you can smell a pottage cooking inside a colonial house, or watch a traditional Wampanoag dugout boat being made….ask questions from skilled educators and interpreters. Make your textbooks come alive!”

..anyway…back to the photo. to make a long story short…this shot was one of the reasons why my files had to be deleted from the SD card that day. thinking i have already saved them on my hard drive. we went to this kite fest last Sunday for some family fun in the sun.oh it’s such a whole twisted story really.. i have 3 SD cards…all full. my card reader went dead. i moved the photos from the said card through a USB, direct from the camera..for the very first time.my hard drive and external hard drive boinked on me too, losing space to save up files.i saw the photos…all of them in one particular folder! they were really good, if i should add. at least as far as i’ve seen in the few seconds i had to view them before we headed out.needless to say, i was rushing out and it sort of prompted me about the memory not enough to save [even send to recycle bin!] so it asked me if i want some files deleted permanently, and yes you guessed it right…i clicked yes. thinking the files are safe in one folder!!!! d’uh!!!!siguro, i just need to pour this all out by blogging about it…gaya ng ginagawa ko ngayon, para makalimutan ko na ang kaga—lingan ko! hahaha! anyway…napalitan naman ng ibang kasayahan ang lahat ng nangyari…sa pamamagitan nitong araw na ito…that was well spent. with the FAMILY! and well documented. more photos to come!
in memory of my father-in-law, who passed away early this morning…we will miss you, dad!

As Julia Child [and Paula Dean] always say, ‘you can never go wrong with too much butter…i would like to add a little twist to that by saying—and CHEESE! more specifically if both ingredients are used in one dish. one delicious and scrumptious dish such as GRILLED MUSSELS, or baked if you please. We often make this with just melted butter and garlic but found out that adding cheese on it makes it even more rich and satisfying. On this one, we used fresh mozzarella cheese..which explains that gooey and sticky golden goodness.
And so for this challenge, we want to focus on CHEESE…fresh, powdered, cheddar, strips, chunks, round, white what have you!

…why did i say semi-homemade? see, i made the wrap myself from scratch with a crepe recipe and so was the dressing… this was the exact instructions that my dear neighbor Stel gave me. and the truth is, and it’s a hundred percent true, mind you…is that the lumpiang hubad-filling was made by her.nagsoli lamang ako ng mga librong hiniram ko sa kanya kahapon, at eto pa ang kapalit! kung hindi ka ba naman talgang sinuswerte, hindi ba? nanghiram na ng libro, na libre pa po ako! saan? sa pagluluto ng hapunan! nyehehehe! hindi lang yun! at ang sarap pa! o devah! no joke! tunay na tunay! ang sarap talga ng kain namin kagabi! eh, bagay pala itong lumpia sa wine-wine! lalo pang sumarap! mwahahaha!thanks again neybur!!!:) at kung mayroon mang mas totoo sa mga minutong ito, ay ang katotohanang hindi na ako makapag-hintay pa na kainin ang natirang lumpia para sa aking pananghalian ngayon na! kaya maiwan ko na muna kayo!!!:)

I love Red Velvet cupcakes! That’s one line I always get from my daughter whenever I make a batch of this sinful yet glorious indulgence. I myself cannot complain when I have a bite or two…that’s one bite per cupcake haha! Well all it takes is just a couple of cups or so of FLOUR to make this. I must admit though that I’d rather call this Rust Velvet cupcakes instead…ooopsie! A major booboo for me. Why? I made this before with bright red food color and it was a huge success, both in taste and presentation. You can see it here with the original recipe.
This time though, I decided to make it a tad ‘healthier’ using Beet Roots. No problem with that, I suppose but I must’ve used the smaller ones that the deep red I was looking for after turned out to be more like a rusty brownish shade. Oh well…lesson learned. Taste-wise? Just as good, if I may say so myself. You can actually taste the healthy stuff in there though. Not sure if that should be the case. But I don’t really mind.

I made more than enough for the 2 of us, that’s s and myself. M who is now in sugar intake moderation, just had a few bites. So I decided to give some to my gracious friends and neighbors. And yup! They were very gracious about it haha! Good to know!
is now a bi-weekly thematic FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY meme, Pinoy style! Next theme…COCONUT.
