S’s 90909 birthday on the first day of school [Litrato]

Photobucket

Happy, Happy Birthday again and again to my li’l S! She just turned 11…and whadayaknow! Summer vacation officially ended yesterday.

I don’t really have a very decent photo entry for this week’s theme, so pardon this mobile shot taken a few hours ago. My daughter, S and her friend on their way to their new school. This marks a great milestone for her since she goes up to Middle school too!

As always, mas excited at mas kinakabahan pa ang mommy kaysa sa mga anak! haha! and i can’t wait until i get to pick them up in a couple more hours!

Lahok para sa Photobucket…na may temang, LANSANGAN.  Hindi nga ba’t masusuwerte pa rin tayong maituturing because we have the opportunity to send our kids to school?…at hindi sila matatagpuan na naglipana lamang sa lansangan?

summer break

Photobucket

…today marks the first day of their summer vacation! yippeeee!!! and my little girl is soon off to Middle School! we definitely slept it in until about 9 or 10. blame it on those chirping birds on this lazy overcast day! add to that the fact that my little man is all snuggled and all over me! i specifically asked them to sleep with me last night since i don’t want to wake up all by myself in bed on this first day of the summer break.

last night though, i caught my daughter doing some school work! the first batch of the math packet that she has to do the whole summer due for submission as she enters 6th grade! i guess she’s already missing school eh?

my cheerleader [Ruby Tuesday]

Photobucket

my daughter is now a certified cheerleader! yay! this is her very first ever cheerleading stint and so i am glad that she is truly enjoying the new activity. it’ll also be something to help her get busy during the upcoming summer months together with their karate classes. something to keep me busy too, i should say…playing chauffer, that is!:)

Photobucket

she has a lot to learn, i know. still a little awkward and shy during the tryouts and practices…but with her natural flexibility and interest in dancing, i am positive she’ll get the hang of it soon.

these are some on the side shots. with C and his old and new pals.

hidden cameras

Having been a working mom a few years back in a new city, a somewhat strange [for us, at least] I was once caught between fulfilling my dreams of being in the work force or staying as a hands on mother. Have you ever been in that situation when you actually considered getting a hidden camera for the sake of really knowing what happens inside your house and your kids are left with just a nanny? I have, seriously. It’s not that I was insanely protective of my kids…I was, hee! It’s also because our nanny was someone we actually just met for the very first time and I’m positive that you all would agree towards my feelings of uncertainty when it comes to situations like this. It was totally wicked difficult.

How do I do that discreetly? I thought of the computer webcam. But that didn’t really seem discreet because I also let her use the computer and she was also very good at it. Wait until you see these insanely clever ways on installing a hidden camera in your house or workplace even. They have all these smart and bright ideas on where you can hide them. Think tissue boxes. clever, right? You’d never think of a simple box would be capable of helping you out in cases such as sneaking on your nanny? Ha! Pretty clever to me! Not only that, there’s the option of using a DVR clock, smoke detectors, flashlights, nightlights, watches, pens and so much more! How cool is that? It’s good to note though, that I was lucky enough to have found a good nanny that I need one not that time. But wait until I go hire a new one when the time comes. There is indeed a solution to calm down overly protective mothers like me.

Middle Schools and lockers

Last Tuesday we went to our very first fly-up day to one of the 2 Middle Schools that my daughter is choosing or rather waiting for confirmation where she will be moving up to 6th grade. The first one, Atlantic Middle School is supposedly our second choice, both mine and my daughter’s. This is so because of influences from other parents alike and even classmates, and that’s it. Never giving the school a chance to know more about it and after that day, I was particularly in the middle of changing my mind. Seeing the school for the first time, huge and clean with huge classrooms, clean lunch room, although not so much stuff in the media room, and quite a number of clean and colorful lockers.
Now in my kid’s current school, this isn’t the case. A school locker for me is supposed to be personal, right? They shouldn’t be shared with anybody else. I understand, due to financial reasons sometimes this isn’t possible. But look at what happened to my daughter. She lost her phone that was left inside her locker that she shares with 2 other classmates. I also think that these school lockers should be kept safe with individual and personalized locks to avoid these sad cases of theft.
More than that, I prefer colorful metal lockers over wood lockers. It’s more modern and safety-wise..it is more favorable too. This is something that I should share with the school of my kids especially now that they have a current promotion on high quality lockers for sale at very low prices to help them decide in a more educated manner, when it comes to these things, that is.

kids in the park

Photobucket

…what better way to be a part of this week’s theme at Thematic Photographic but with my most favorite subjects in the whole wide world…my kids! taken during the Mother’s day weekend at the nearby park. simple. fun. family time.

Photobucket

…we covered almost everything that needed to be done including a hair cut for the boys, some summer camp registrations and even gardening and gathered auto insurance recommendations.

This week’s theme…HUMAN. check out Carmi’s page for more details.

Litrato: in the end [nang matapos]

pizza-pasta-dinner
…i have mentioned in this blog that weekends are my days off in the kitchen. this past mother’s day weekend is no exception…more so if i must say, right?

kaya naman heto ang isa sa mga niluto ni M to cap the whole brouhaha. hee! nang matapos ang pagpapasarap ng isang ina. isang masarap na pizza, pasta and those Buitoni Wild Mushroom Agnolotti that i got to taste-test care of Foodbuzz for free! it was totally awesome! Raviolis are another must have in our kitchen, even the kids love ‘em! anyway, everything [except for the ravioli] was good and homemade by M…which meant a lot more than anything else, korek?

end-of-the-tunnel
…this on the other hand, ay larawan ng isa sa mga tunnels na dinaanan namin pauwi ng Massachusetts nang matapos ang aming kamakailang bakasyon sa Virginia.

An entry to LP-nang-matapos Heto pa ang isa kong lahok.

getting into a healthy lifestyle

S said yesterday that she is really liking this year. i asked why and she said…because she gets to try out new things like sports. we just registered her for cheer leading last saturday and C got into karate yesterday. she wasn’t as interested with karate before that, but now she is saying she wants to try it out too after seeing C join in the session for the very first time. which is good. i really wanted her to try out karate too. they need these extra-curricular activities especially something sports related plus it is a good way to learn self defense as well.
even M and i are gearing into a healthier lifestyle [keeping my fingers crossed]…and i am starting today. again keeping my fingers crossed here:]….as i am missing doing my hip hop abs exercises and yes, i really really, badly badly need to go back into dancing my way to a healthier and trimmer figure! one thing i also miss is doing what i love most…designing. i am not sure if i still can make a cad drawing! but this is what i know…slowly, but surely with prayers and perseverance… we’re getting there. everything will take into it’s proper place. i just don’t want to get into details now.
