Skywatch Friday: Virginia clouds

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Photobucket

…these overcast sky photos were taken one of those unpredictable days in Virginia during our very recent spring break trip there.   the reason why we weren’t really able to go to other planned trips around the area. it was a rainy week, it turned out…which ruined our much anticipated visit to Virginia Beach…and a return to Washington DC.

Photobucket

…what better way to be a part of this week’s theme at Thematic Photographic but with my most favorite subjects in the whole wide world…my kids! taken during the Mother’s day weekend at the nearby park. simple. fun. family time.

Photobucket

…we covered almost everything that needed to be done including a hair cut for the boys, some summer camp registrations and even gardening and gathered auto insurance recommendations.

This week’s theme…HUMAN. check out Carmi’s page for more details.

Ruby Tuesday: on Virginia

Photobucket

this is just one part of our first day in Virginia. seeing the city/state on a clear day as compared to our first trip about 2 years ago was a total ‘awakening’ from an Easterner stand point of sorts. in a nut shell, it is absolutely cleaner, fresher and manicured with wide and lush greeneries as compared to New York and Massachusetts where we have lived during the past 5 years. even Connecticut and New Jersey in comparison, I would aptly say that I find Virginia, the northern part at least is a place where I would love to have my kids grow up in too.

Photobucket

From a foodie and shopaholic standpoint,  it is spotted with all sorts of restaurants and specialty shops all over.  and from a mother and designer’s perspective… clusters within clusters of perfectly sized and well planned residential houses are prominently appealing, that is to my standards at least.

Photobucket

Not to mention that our closest friends in the country  [and that goes for the kids too], reside in this part of the East Coast now, before which we used to be so close by and just a few subway stations away in NY. This explains why we try as much as we can to visit each other at least once a year. or at least meet halfway just like how we did last summer when we met up at Six Flags, CT. before that, it was their turn to go up this far. this year we cruised 9-12 hours [blame it on the GW bridge traffic, on our way back home] and spent the whole spring break with the Evangelistas! thanks again for the warm and relaxing week that has put this website into a halt up until this day. hangover is hard to cure…’bringing back that blog-ving feeling’ is like a ‘last-song-syndrome’ that’s attacking me up to this very minute! next year…the Cape?

garden-asparagus

Back in New York, I can only go as far as an Asparagus on a pitcher or vase on a table or counter, sometimes it’s the basil or other fresh herbs i mostly use in cooking or a foliage of them all. primary reason…wala akong hardin sa building apartment na tinitirhan namin noon. secondly, i was never huge on colorful blooms and bouquets…in fact kung ako ay papipiliin ng bulaklak berdeng bulaklak pa rin ang gusto ko or simpleng puting tulip is as far as i can go. even in decorating the house, i would still opt for twigs, pussy willows and cat tails [la la la la, hee!] rather than roses and stuffs…

garden-parsley

The most successful one i’ve ever had was this parsley i bought ready on a pot at matagumpay ko namang nabuhay ng buong taon. But now I am ready to enjoy this bigger back/side yard/garden/deck that we have.

garden-BBQ-grille

He he!
This is one thing that I need to buy soon myself. Add to that a set of patio chairs and table both for entertaining and lazing around during these nicer weather condition outdoors.

spiCes on the road

spiCes-car
…nope! we did not have another road trip. that’ll be a week from now! yay! so excited, even S can’t wait to pack her things up. it’ll be a long, long 9 hour or so driving…but since it’s going to be the first time for us to travel this long on the road, we are actually looking forward to it!
now back to the photo…my dear neighbor Stel and I went for a shopping spree [take note: household/domestic related not personal] to Ikea and Costco the other day. she was driving and she was the one who saw this being busy clicking away and my camera was pointed on the other side of the road. i wonder who this is…oh well, i do not own the word.  only the one that has an upper case C. hee! it’s a good thing Stel was the one driving, otherwise i should make sure that i have a life insurance because i won’t let this chance pass me by without snapping!

sundown-1

…i wanted to test the new toy for some night shots and this is how it turned out…just a few minutes after the sun has set. in the parking lot while waiting for M who was buying something in CVS.

sundown-2

..and here’s another angle. same location. and i’m quite happy with the outcome of these photos and probably i got the correct settings for shots like these. now, i need to get away for some more photo ops…probably somewhere warmer.

WS: got milk?

Monday, April 6th, 2009

got-milk
…taken on our way to Connecticut last Saturday for my niece’s baby shower. it was a good day for a road trip that we decided to make it just a day trip. in total, M drove for almost 7 hours! can you just imagine how tired he can be? but it was all worth the trip. we get to see our relatives and the kids had fun playing with cousins alike. a change of atmosphere was also good for all of us.

First and utmost…Happy 1st Anniversary again to LITRATONG PINOY!!! and here’s to LP’s Madame Butterfly…hehehe! Madame Admin pala, for a job well done [at nagpadami ng uban nya mwahaha!] Isa na po ako dun hehe! sowi po!

I am mega uber positive that most of you found this theme a challenge. Easy as it may seem, if we base it on the theme title…Paboritong larawan [favorite photo]. Sort of a freestyle in effect, right? But nah… it wasn’t the case for me. And we all know the reason why most of us found this a tad difficult…we.have.a.gazillion.of.fave.photos!

So I decided to post a very recent and fabulous discovery…

The Marina Bay…located just around the area of Quincy, Massachusetts. I have been in the city for more than a year now but it was only during the past weekend that we saw this marvelous place.

Maaraw man noong araw na iyon, pero malamig pa rin kaya hindi kami nakatagal sa labas…and we decided to come back again and eat in each and every restaurant by the boardwalk soon.

Photobucket
These 2 photos aren’t exactly a favorite since I have yet to learn the correct settings in shooting seascapes, landscapes and all other naturescapes on a sunny day such as this…in fact, sinadya kong ipakita ang 2 larawan na ito sa inyo na halos magkamukha. pansin nyo? haha!
the reason behind…
And I can’t wait to come back…kasi, kasi! I have a new lens! yay!
…and wouldn’t it be nice to visit these wonderful vacation spots and be on the road for days with an rv? this is just one of my son’s biggest dreams, ever! it’s free anyway, dreaming that is:]
