Lasang Pinoy, Sundays: Shades of Spring and Summer

This week has been very spring-like here playing between the 50’s to lower 70’s, which is always a welcome atmosphere for most of us. not too hot, not too cold. as they say, it’s just about right…and it’s so nice seeing all the greens with reds, yellows, oranges and pinks a-blooming outdoors!

Now that the warmer weather is fast approaching and bikini season is in full blast in the Philippines, we would like to tackle the colors that signify the beginning of spring that eventually leads to summer. As for my photo this week, I am sharing something with a prime ingredient that never fails to enthrall me when I bump into a recipe in magazines, cookbooks or even TV shows…pasta.

This PASTA WITH ASPARAGUS AND CHERRY TOMATO is actually more of a salad dish as it can be served fresh and warm or even in room temperature. As the weather warms up, I find salads and pasta dishes so much fun to make as the bright and vibrant colors of different ingredients that can go with it is, as they say can only be limited by ones imagination. These often result to light, fresh and mild flavors infused with zesty and citrus ingredients such as lemons and limes.
for the detailed HOW-To, go here. This is so filling yet you do feel that it’s so light, you won’t even think of checking out diet pill reviews. Not this time anyway.
lapis-spring-summer is a weekly thematic FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY meme, Pinoy style! Come and join the fun as we celebrate the colors and flavors of SPRING and SUMMER!

Temperature further down under is similar but the exact opposite of spring – autumn! :-)

I also love pasta cooked this way, but I add bits of ham or bacon to keep the boys happy hehehe…

your fotos are lovely — the colors, the swirling pasta and the angle of the shot. Summer na summer ang dating ng asparagus and cherry tomato pasta!

Very unusual kasi sa Pinas ang pasta na ganyan, pero I want to taste this kind of dish, para maiba naman, hindi laging spaghetti with ground meat and hotdog. =)

My summery food is now posted. Happy weekends!

That looks good and that’s exactly what we would have for a light dinner.

Having a heavy meal when the weather is hot and humid is not a good combination for me :D
