WS: Pool Party…to stay or not to stay
…that is the question.
I was caught in a difficult dilemma when my daughter S attended the pool party of her new-found best friend. Staying around was in fact my intent even before the party even with the knowledge that parties here for kids are intended for kids alone. I even asked V’s mom if there’s no problem with the idea and she politely said it is fine. So I did.
What almost made me change my mind was when all other moms came with their daughters, chatted a little and left! I was thinking this could be a perfect ME-time, right? A couple of hours or so alone, probably have my nails done, go to a nearby mall…yeah it could have been good too. Then my son C who happens to be a classmate too of the birthday girl’s brother, decided he wanted to take a dip in the pool as well. That was my hint that this isn’t a day of self-pampering though I was assured beforehand that he can stay around if I decided to leave.
Call me over-protective [call it very typical for a Filipino mother], but I still feel it was a wise decision.

Looks like a fun party. I was pretty protective about my daughter and water when she was young. She was a good swimmer but it’s hard to watch a whole group of children in the water.
